Background

Phatthana Panyathai School (Intellectual Development Institute or IDI) was established in 2004 to teach Thai traditional medicine courses in medicine, pharmacy and midwifery, as well as Thai massage training with certification. We have contributed the teaching and learning curriculum to provide knowledge and practice to those interested in Thai traditional medicine.

Our place also provide Thai massage service, therapeutic treatment, along with the use of Thai traditional herbal medicines. A good advice on exercising, adapting your habits for a better health and how to take care of yourself during the treatment will be carefully given.

During many years of professional work, we have healed many people who have got illness (most of them are non-contagious diseases, NCD - the diseases that are not caused by infection) such as diabetes, hypertension, liver, kidneys, heart diseases, especially pain, fatigue, muscle / tendon / joints problems, numbness on hands or feet, trigger fingers, paralysis, etc., Our clients feel satisfied with the healing massage and herbal treatment they received which have made an improvement to their symptoms and recovery from the diseases.

IDI Working Objectives:

1. Disseminate knowledge about Thai traditional medicine and proper usage of Thai herbal medicine information.

2. Provide health check service to assess the risk of a person’s diseases and encourage him to take care of his health to protect the possibly coming disease.

3. Help reduce health problems by "preventing" health problems, not waiting for "problem solving" after the occurrence of diseases.

4. Along with physical health care, we will introduce and demonstrate the mental care by practicing meditation to create strength within the mind. A strong mind has a willpower which must be developed in parallel to the daily lifestyle by meditation. If one has a strong mind, he can cope with problems in various situations and can go through any obstacles in life.

5. Helping people in the society to be healthy so that they can work more efficiently and be happy both physically and mentally.

Course Options and Descriptions

At IDI, our method of instruction is one-to-one and small group. Most other massage schools and training centers in Chiang Mai have classes between 10 and 30 students, with one or two instructors for the whole group. At IDI, you will receive the benefit of individualized instruction. The instructor will demonstrate techniques and positioning on each student so that you will know the correct places to apply pressure, the correct amount of pressure, and how the massage should feel. Likewise, you will give massage to your instructor, so that he or she can give you feedback and corrections. This method of instruction will allow you to develop excellent Thai massage skills, enabling you to practice Thai massage with confidence.

Upon the completion of a course at IDI, students receive a certificate complete with their name, the name of the course, the number of hours studied, and the signature of the director and an instructor. Certificates issued for long courses (30 hours and above) will also denote that the course has been supervised by the Thai Ministry of Education.
